VIDEO

For the past year, I've been working as a Contract Video Editor on a project by project basis for Pennant Video which focuses on the marketing trifecta of  anthem, explainer, and endorsement videos for organizations spanning manufacturing, healthcare, education, business, and technology .

Prior to that, I was a full-time Video Editor at Matter Communications (the unit rebranded as "Gusto") for 3 years. While there, I worked closely with individual clients and full teams to identify internal and external marketing and communications needs and execute media projects with post-production budgets ranging from $25,000-70,000 5-7 times per quarter. Even further back (2014-2019), I held similar roles with history curriculum developer Facing History and Ourselves, and Arizona State University's College of Integrative Sciences and Arts

I've continued to hone fluent capabilities in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and After Effects to carry out all post-production needs from ingest/transcription (logging large bodies of footage 1+ Tb in 4K using proxy workflows), through script drafting, editing, mastering, color correction, keying, digital screen compositing, data visualization, lower thirds, titles, logo/still-asset animation, client revision cycles, and final encoding/compression.

Below, you'll find some of my past projects along with some context to shed light on production challenges, workflows, and results.

World Without Limits (Nasuni)

For Hybrid Cloud Storage company, Nasuni, primarily a stock edit, but with motion design and a custom music score. (December 2023-January 2024).

Would you even know that this video was cobbled together from groups of carefully curated stock shots? To the casual viewer, probably not. There's a whole ecosystem of projects which rehash the same material, but doing so with intention takes a degree of nuance.

Working backward from a finalized script and professional VO track, I fleshed out different "scenes" for the industry sectors Nasuni products empower, from energy to media to engineering, manufacturing, and retail.

Sourced all stock shots across multiple libraries in accordance with finalized VO script, edited and color corrected all the visuals; handled all revisions.

Processed all material and assembled two strategically different cuts of interviews and b-roll to meet the 2024 Commencement event's needs.

Arthur Morris Blank Tribute (Babson College Commencement 2024)

Technically a two-part project (one  60s pre-roll video for use at the Commencement ceremony itself before AMB's speech; and another, extended 4-5 minute post-cap video with more interview footage), this is the longer-form cut of a video for Babson College in which we explored the ways in which AMB's generous donations have helped to further the institution's  initiatives in keeping with his six core values: giving back to others, putting people first, including everyone, innovating continuously, listening and responding, and leading by example.

EO Care Testimonial
featuring Ethan Zohn

Filmed and edited in a month between 11/16-12/11 2023, this testimonial for medical cannabis guidance group, "EO" with cancer survivor, Ethan Zohn, is textbook example of amplifying a big one-day shoot with supplementary visuals and SFX.

It's a fusion of a live interview, a day's worth of 2-camera b-roll, and stock (static and live). We went through a couple iterations on all the color and sound, too, so it was jam packed with the time we had. Time well spent! This project also got extra SFX and mastering work from Trent at Rian/Hunter Productions, which always adds an extra dimension back to the footage.

Edited and color corrected all the visuals; handled all revisions

Led the edit and graphics via outline content & the company's style guide

Remote & Freelance
Extreme Networks Projects

A quick compilation of two projects I edited in October 2023 via contract work with Pennant Video Company for Extreme Networks, a large-scale digital networking powerhouse.

One was a very familiar 3 min, two-subject sit-down interview testimonial piece for the Worcester Red Sox and Polar Park's Extreme Networks integration, and the other was a 1 min & some change  more mograph-heavy, internally-facing quarterly marketing recap sizzle--done in just a day and a half!

When 1 + 1 = 1
The MiCROTEC / Lucidyne Merger

Acquisitions can be an anxious time for employees. "What (or who) are they going to keep?" It's a time for clear communication.

In the case of the acquisition of Oregon-based Lucidyne by their European lumber-scanning counterpart, MiCROTEC, the message was one of continuity and expanded opportunity. It was also a chance to take a deeper dive into the surprisingly high-tech world of lumber refinement.

Led edit and script/narrative development; created an entire second script that became a separate piece from additional material

The Vicarious Surgical SPAC Sprint

One of three video projects I edited in the Matter agency-wide whirlwind that was the Vicarious Surgical SPAC comms crunch focusing on the organization's business journey so far and what industry breakthroughs are taking robotic-assisted abdominal surgery into a new era.

And because we were martyrs, we also co-produced an award-winning limited podcast series on robotic tech with guests from big business and academia that utilized these very same sit-down interviews.

Making Renewable Energy Personal

We worked with Hitachi to tell the story of their collaboration with Energy Harbor in Ohio supporting renewable energy development across the region. Angelita of EH and her daughter participated (even letting the crew shoot around their home), and Uday brought the audience along on for a hike.

I received the footage via hard drive and catalogued all the material, and led the rest of the edit all the way through revisions and even some extra 3rd party sound design.

Building Community During A Pandemic

The first of a four-part project for (then AT&T, now) Microsoft's advertising tech company, Xandr. I made this series, along with support from the ever-amazing mograph team at Matter, entirely from employee-submitted footage. Can you say: "mixed bag?"

This was a few months into the lockdowns in the Eastern US and people were itching to show community any way they could. Thanks to a great cast of characters in the Xandr community, this surprisingly charming series emerged!

No Production? No Problem!
Telling Stories Anyway (with Stock)

This Hitachi project about AI-powered analytics insights is almost 100% Hitachi archival and stock footage combed from over 4 sites, cleared by/purchased for the client, and compiled along with a professional scripted narration and a smattering of footage from past Hitachi projects.

Since there was no "production" component to this project, I was mostly left to my own devices to source the relevant footage in accordance with a finalized script, clear that with the client, and try to illustrate the story.

Led edit, sourced and documented all additional stock footage to fill visual gaps in script

Interviews and Industry: An RSM Customer Success Story

One of the many types of projects we'd work on with staple accounting consulting client, RSM, was customer success stories where we'd unpack the hurdles of small and mid-sized businesses, and how RSM's suite of services helped them overcome their challenges.

Usually these would clock in around the 3 to 4 minute mark, but this one was an outlier in a few ways. Since it had to contain a 3-person interview and exhaustive facilities tour, it's almost 11 minutes long.

This one was all about finding the right balance of people to industry while still showcasing as much of the site as possible.
